She received formal radio broadcast training in high school, and has also received training in production techniques, vocal training & announcer techniques, Long range planning & goal setting.  She also received training in the news director and program directors positions from the Alaska Public Radio Network.

Kim has attended many NFCB and PRC conferences, and has participated in the Development Exchange conference.
